The wooden church replaced an older wooden church. It is now used by Poles. The village supposedly was founded by prince Jurij II of Halych (+1340) who built the first church. It was named St. George after his patron saint.
In 1785 the village lands comprised 3.64 sq km. There were 134 Greek Catholics 84 Roman Catholics and 14 Jews
